If you’re pregnant, have just given birth, or are struggling to parent a young child, you might be thinking about placing your child for adoption. Aggieland Pregnancy Outreach believes women with unplanned pregnancies should have all available information about every option. We want you to make a confident, informed decision for your child’s future.

What is Adoption?

Adoption is the process of legally and permanently transferring the rights and responsibilities of parenthood to another family. It isn’t co-parenting. Although the birth mother and father no longer have the day-to-day responsibilities of raising their child, they will always be a part of their child’s life story.

Why Would I Choose Adoption?

Many women from all walks of life choose adoption. The following are a few reasons they decided to make an adoption plan:

Wanting their child to be raised in a two-parent home
Lacking the resources to raise this child because they are already caring for others
Feeling they are too old or too young to parent
Believing it is the wrong time in life to parent
Not desiring to parent at all
Living in an unsafe environment

What Are the Different Adoption Plans?

There are three adoption plans: open, semi-open, and closed.

Open Adoption

An open adoption plan means the birth and adoptive parents exchange identifying information. They decide how much information to share and how often they want to communicate with one another. They can send letters and emails directly, make phone calls, or have personal visits.

Semi-Open Adoption

A semi-open adoption is also known as a mediated adoption. The birth and adoptive couples have contact with one another through a third party, such as your Aggieland Adoption caseworker. You do not share addresses, emails, or phone numbers.

Closed Adoption

A closed adoption offers complete privacy. The birth family does not know who adopts their child, and the courts seal the original birth certificate to maintain anonymity.

It is important to know that open adoption agreements are not legally enforceable in the state of Texas.

Why Should I Choose Aggieland Adoptions?

Since 2002, Aggieland Adoptions has been a full-service, Texas licensed adoption agency that can handle all adoption details. You will never pay for any adoption services.

We provide an adoption counselor to explain the adoption details and answer all your questions. Only you can decide if placing your child for adoption is the right choice. We will never coerce you into choosing this option.

If you choose to make an adoption plan, we provide one-on-one counseling for as long as you need it. Aggieland Adoptions also provides a regular support group in a confidential, emotionally safe environment for birth moms to gather, share their stories, and encourage one another.

APO helped through the hardest thing I'll probably ever have to go through! The lady I worked with was so much help. They helped me with a lot, from counseling to helping financially. From phones calls, text, emails, and meetings, they always check up on you to make sure things are going ok. They always offer to come to you instead of going into the office. Our connection to APO is an outer circle at best. We are the parents of someone who gave their child up for adoption. I thought my husband and I would have very little interaction with the adoption agency, but I was wrong. This agency's representative has gone above and beyond the paperwork and legalities. She has given godly advice both before the baby was born and continuing long after the adoption was finalized.
