Rachel’s Story

From My Blog:

Earlier this month I got an unexpected phone call from Kim Schams. Kim is the Founder of Aggieland Pregnancy Outreach (APO for short), for those of you that aren’t aware of who she is and the incredible work she does. When I first met Kim, she was running APO out of her home as just a way to help unwed pregnant teenage girls find the resources needed to make a decision on what to do… [Read More]

This photo was taken at my last doctor’s appointment before Rachel Faith was born. Shown here with my mother and Rachel Faith’s biological father, Trey.
A very emotional, yet wonderful Entrustment Ceremony. Before leaving the hospital, we all went down the chapel where we officially entrusted Rachel Faith to the care of her adoptive parents, Jenny and Tim.

My family now. I have since had 3 more little girls and am married to a wonderful man who had 2 children previously. Together we have 5 terrific children.

When Lindy got pregnant in high school and was thinking about adoption, no one hesitated to offer THEIR opinion.

“Don’t you want your baby!!??”

Lindy: Of course I do! But I want him to have so much more than what I can give him right now.

“Adoption is so selfish. You shouldn’t give your baby away just because it’s inconvenient.”

Lindy: If I was being selfish, I promise I would be keeping him. Adoption hurts so much at the beginning. I can only do this because I am putting his needs above my own.

“You need to own up to your responsibility and take care of that baby yourself.”

Lindy: I am being responsible. If I wasn’t, I wouldn’t be working so hard to find the right
adoptive family for by baby. It’s going to be an open adoption so I can make sure my
son knows I love him and didn’t just give him away – that I made a good plan for him.

“If you don’t want your baby, why don’t you just have an abortion?”

Lindy: I am not going to kill my baby just because I made a mistake. I believe God values EVERY human life. Abortion is not an option for me and my baby.

“If you’ll keep your baby, I’ll help and baby sit sometimes.”

Lindy: Yeah, right!
