About Our Adoptive Parents

The families who adopt through APO are Christian couples who have been married for at least three years. One parent commits to staying at home (working no more than 20 hours per week outside the home) until the child is three years old. Before being accepted into APO’s adoption program, each family undergoes extensive screening which includes:

FBI background checks, reference checks, assessment of financial stability, health, motivations to adopt, and more. Each couple also attends many hours of adoption and parenting education, as well as support group before, during and after the adoption.

Each couple creates a “Profile Book” when they enter our agency. This is like a scrap book they create to introduce themselves to those considering adoption. The Profile Book includes letters from the family and photographs of their home, pets, hobbies, relatives, etc.  If you are considering adoption for your child can view the Profile Books here.  We also have hard copies at APO that you are welcome to view.
